Mount Melville : Around St Andrews
St Andrews has some superb beaches which are maintained to the highest standards. These are the East Sands near the harbour.
The harbour itself is still home to active small fishing boats and good for an evening stroll along the breakwater.
Within the ruins of the cathedral you can climb St Rule's tower for an impressive view of the town
It is worth stopping to try to imagine what an amazing piece of medieval architecture the cathedral maust have been before being destroyed following the Reformation.
The Castle along the shore is also very much worth a visit. You can descend into the underground tunnel involved in siege attempts.
